General work description: In general, the work for this project includes removal of existing pavement, excavation and subgrade preparation, preparation and compaction of aggregate base material, construction of stabilized base course, construction of Portland cement concrete pavement, construction of hot mix asphalt concrete pavement, concrete pavement joint resealing, removal and application of pavement markings, and airfield electrical.

Scope of Work:
Mobilization and Demobilization (5% Maximum of Base Bid), Contractor's Quality Control Program, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Control Plan, Underground Utility Locating, Ground Penetrating Radar, Underground Utility Locating, Potholing, Construction Safety and Phasing Plan, Remove Existing AC Pavement, 3- Inch Thick, Remove Existing PCC Pavement, 16-Inch to 18-Inch Thick, Unclassified Excavation and Disposal On-site, 12-Inch Subgrade, Scarify and Recompact, Controlled Low Strength Material (500 psi Compressive), 6-Inch-Thick Lean Concrete Base Course (P-306), 4-Inch-Thick Asphalt Mix Pavement (P-403), Portland Cement Concrete  Pavement, 17-Inch Thick – Plain, Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, 17-Inch Thick – Reinforce, Remove   Existing   Sealant   and   Install Preformed Joint Seal  For Existing PCC Pavements, Up to 3/4-Inch Width, Remove Existing Sealant and Install Preformed Joint Seal for Existing PCC Pavements, From Greater Than 3/4- Inch to 1-1/4-Inch Width, Utility Protection Slab, Joint Edge Spall Repair, Permanent Pavement Markings and Striping, 2 Coats with Glass Beads, Refresh/Repaint Existing Pavement Markings and Striping, 1 Coat with Glass Beads, Temporary Pavement Markings, 1 Coat with Glass Beads, Remove Pavement Markings and Striping, Electrical Demolition, Remove and Salvage of Existing Runway Light, Fixture, and Transformer, Furnish and Install 1/C #6 AWG, 5KV, Type C Cable in Conduit, Furnish and Install 1/C #6 AWG, Ground Wire in Conduit, Furnish and Install 1/C #6 AWG, Counterpoise Cable in Trench, Furnish and Install Electrical Ground Rod, Furnish and Install One (1) 2-Inch Schedule 40 PVC Conduit Concrete Encased, Install Salvaged Runway Edge Light, Fixture, and Transformer, Install Salvaged Runway Threshold/end Light, Fixture, and Transformer, Furnish and Install L-868 Light Base Can, Furnish, Install, and Remove Temporary Runway Threshold / End Lights and Above Ground Conduits, Trucking, Equipment Rental.

Griffith Company will work with interested subcontractors to identify opportunities to break down items into economically feasible packages.

Requirements: Griffith Company is signatory to Operating Engineers, Laborers, Teamsters, Cement Masons, and Carpenters Unions. 100% performance and payment bonds required for the full amount of the subcontract price. Subcontractors must possess a current contractor’s license, insurance and worker’s compensation insurance coverage meeting Griffith’s requirements.
